A Modern Family Living a Natural Life

I’m Meghan, a one women homesteader. A Farmher, if you must and if you would of asked me 15 years ago if I would be growing my own food, butchering our own meat, or homeschooling my kids…I would of laughed at you until I cried.

But life has funny twists along the way. And sometimes things just come together and make sense for what ever reason. For me it was moments through my life that just seemed right. That small garden my parents always had when we were little, the stories of my grandmothers childhood growing up on a farm in Pennsylvania, or the not so right year with little answers from doctors and weeks upon weeks of hospital stays with my toddler who had severe anemia. All of these things pushed me in the direction of growing food myself and concentrating on slowing down and simplifying and finding joy in the every day moments.

And you’d never guess I have a background in Fashion Design and lived in New York City!

We are a modern family spreading the gap between homesteading and contemporary living. We enjoy the best of both worlds. Jon has a typical career which he loves. And I run a farm and a household and maintain our 20 acres. Different things make different people happy. Our main goal is each other and living as whole, healthy and sustainably as we can. Through literally growing our food right off our doorstep to being conscious of trash and consumption in our daily lives, using regenerative agriculture methods (which is really just doing it like our ancestors) and still socializing, entertaining, and keeping up with friends and family and the city scene. We do it all…in one life.

But I also wish to share and teach others that may want to go on a similar journey without a direction to start.  We hope that you can be inspired and learn from our life’s lessons and the skills we have gained whether that be homesteading, crafting, entertaining, cooking, or many of the other things we offer you here at Hodgson Home. Take a look around to see what you can gain from Whole Life Living.

Be yourself, everyone else is all ready taken.
